What might a virtual treatment session include?

HAND THERAPY

Home Exercise Program

With many outpatient therapy clinics temporarily putting a halt on treatments, we want to provide extensive education in management of upper extremity conditions you may be experiencing. We can virtually provide an individualized home exercise program, improve fine motor skills, educate in pain management using modalities you already have at home, offer recommendations for splinting, and creatively problem solve new ways to perform tasks.

We will develop a home exercise program that is right for you, and we will comprehensively train you in how to safely perform each exercise. The most important part of a home exercise program is establishing correct form - this is why, following each treatment session, we will email you your Home Exercise Program detailing all the exercises we taught you, including videos of each exercise.

Home Assessment and Adaptations

Separate from our initial evaluation, we can provide a comprehensive formal home assessment ($199 base fee for 1 hour, $59 for each additional hour). It will include a detailed report of the home evaluation with an outline of recommendations to enhance safety and independence, as well as estimated costs for each item. We can assist with finding appropriate contractors as needed, advocating for client needs, and negotiating charges for services. Home safety assessments and recommendations may be conducted in person, virtually,  or a combination of the two; per client's preference. Any service conducted in person will include therapist(s) wearing appropriate PPE (i.e., masks and gloves).

Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

Home Assessment and Adaptations

Based on the results of the initial evaluation and the home evaluation if performed, we can make recommendations for appropriate DME. This may include walkers, rollators, canes, wheelchairs, hospital beds, and bedside commodes. As needed, we can order and ship recommended DME to you. Additionally, we can communicate with doctors and insurance companies on your behalf to obtain insurance coverage for DME.
